I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Until 2017, I spent 30 years in the community newspaper industry, working and managing the family-owned community newspaper in Roxboro, The Courier-Times. In May 2020, I graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with an MA in Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling. I became fully Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by January 2024.
In the Autumn of 2008, I experienced severe anxiety and depression, and mental health counseling helped me transform my life. The experience was life-changing, and I decided to change careers to assist people of all ages and backgrounds in transforming their mental and relational health.
I employ evidence-based and relational interventions with teens, individuals, couples, and parents. My counseling interests include treating depression and anxiety, stress management, adoption, special needs parenting, life transitions, and couples counseling. As a committed Christian professional specializing in marriage, family, and individual counseling, I can integrate faith into my professional practice. The treatment I provide my clients seeks to care for the whole person: body, mind, and soul. While understanding that for some, the path of personal growth includes the integration of their faith, for others, it does not. I will always respect the client's choice concerning including faith and values in their treatment.
I was born at Person Memorial Hospital in 1963 and have lived in this community for 60 years. I make my home in Roxboro with my lovely wife, Linda, and our adopted son, Nikolay. We enjoy living here in Person County with our three dogs, two cats, a horse, and a donkey.
